JD Vance Accuses Politico of โ€˜Journalistic Malpractice’

0

On Friday, Vice President JD Vance took to X to blast what he called โ€œforeign influenceโ€ in a Politico report targeting Steve Witkoff, President Trumpโ€™s special envoy for peace missions and chief negotiator on Ukraine.

โ€œThis story from Politico is journalistic malpractice,โ€ Vance wrote, tagging Politico correspondent Felicia Schwartz. โ€œBut itโ€™s more than that: itโ€™s a foreign influence operation meant to hurt the administration and one of our most effective members. Notice how all of the people attacking Steve are on background? That means itโ€™s two or three deep staters who are angry that Witkoff has succeeded where theyโ€™ve failed.โ€

Vance made clear that he sees the article as an attempt not just to smear Witkoff, but to undermine Trumpโ€™s broader foreign policy success in shifting the conversation toward peace in Ukraine.

What the Politico Story Claimed

Schwartzโ€™s piece, co-authored with Nahal Toosi and Jack Detsch, framed Witkoff as an inexperienced outsider whose โ€œgo-it-alone styleโ€ frustrates American, Ukrainian, and European officials. According to Schwartz, 13 anonymous sourcesโ€”none of whom were willing to go on the recordโ€”painted Witkoff as someone who views the Ukraine conflict โ€œthrough a real estate lensโ€ and misses diplomatic details.

Politicoโ€™s reporting emphasized that Witkoff has met with Vladimir Putin five times in six months but claimed those meetings havenโ€™t led to tangible breakthroughs. The piece also alleged Witkoff sometimes appeared โ€œuninformed or unprepared,โ€ citing unnamed U.S. and foreign officials.

One anonymous voice was quoted as saying, โ€œHis inexperience shines through, he has the presidentโ€™s ear, which is evident, but there has been some confusion about what has been said and agreed.โ€

What Politico Left Out

Vance accused Politico of cherry-picking information to fit a predetermined narrative. He said the outlet deliberately left out quotes from him, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and senior advisor Jared Kushnerโ€”each of whom had praised Witkoffโ€™s diplomatic efforts.

In fact, Vance had told Politico directly: โ€œWitkoff has made more progress towards ending the bloodshed in Ukraine than all his critics combined.โ€ That single line was briefly included, but stripped of context and buried among anonymous complaints.

According to Schwartz herself, the White House sent Politico a list of officialsโ€™ supportive quotes about Witkoff. Most were left on the cutting room floor.

The Larger Pattern: Anonymous Sources and Double Standards

The story is the latest example of the corporate media using anonymous leaks from entrenched bureaucrats to undermine Trump officials. Both Trump and Vance have criticized this practice for years, pointing out that it gives cover to partisan โ€œdeep stateโ€ operatives while denying the American people transparency.

By contrast, those willing to speak openlyโ€”Vance, Rubio, Kushnerโ€”were ignored or minimized in Politicoโ€™s coverage. The result is a slanted article that elevates anonymous gossip over the testimony of elected leaders and senior officials.

Why Witkoff Matters

Steve Witkoff, a successful real estate developer and longtime Trump ally, was tapped for a unique mission: break the stalemate on Ukraine by applying Trumpโ€™s outsider approach to diplomacy. Unlike career diplomats who have presided over endless wars and gridlock, Witkoff has leveraged direct relationships, including multiple meetings with Putin, to seek pragmatic solutions.

For Trumpโ€™s critics in the establishment, that makes him a threat. For everyday Americans who are weary of endless foreign wars, it makes him a symbol of a possible new path toward peace.

Vance: Media Trying to Derail Peace Efforts

Vance argued that the Politico piece is not just unfair journalismโ€”itโ€™s part of a deliberate effort to derail peace negotiations. โ€œThe quotes on Witkoff were meant to complicate and derail peace efforts,โ€ he said, warning that anonymous smears serve the interests of those who profit from prolonging the war.

Republicans have long argued that entrenched Washington interests, including defense contractors and globalist bureaucrats, benefit from keeping conflicts alive rather than resolving them. By attacking Witkoff, Vance suggested, the media is doing their bidding.

The Takeaway

Politicoโ€™s story highlights a familiar clash: Trumpโ€™s America First agendaโ€”focused on ending foreign wars and prioritizing U.S. interestsโ€”versus the entrenched establishment in Washington and its allies in the corporate media.

Vanceโ€™s defense of Witkoff signals that the White House isnโ€™t backing down. Despite attacks from the press and anonymous bureaucrats, Trump and his team are determined to keep pursuing peace in Ukraineโ€”an effort the mainstream media seems determined to undermine at every step

Trump Threatens to Prosecute George Soros and His Son Over RICO Charges

President Donald Trump took direct aim at billionaire financier George Soros and his son Alex in a fiery Truth Social post on Wednesday, accusing the pair of fueling radical left-wing unrest across the country and hinting at potential RICO charges.

โ€œGeorge Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,โ€ Trump wrote. โ€œWeโ€™re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to โ€˜BREATHE,โ€™ and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends.โ€

Trump concluded with a warning: โ€œBe careful, weโ€™re watching you!โ€

Who Are the Soroses?

George Soros, a Hungarian-born billionaire, is one of the Democratic Partyโ€™s largest donors and has been financing progressive causes for decades. His global influence has been tied to left-wing prosecutors, liberal DA races, and activist organizations that critics say undermine law and order in American cities.

In 2023, Soros handed control of his vast empireโ€”including the Open Society Foundationโ€”to his son, Alex Soros, who has pledged to continue funding progressive causes, often with an even more openly partisan edge. Alex has boasted of his close ties to the Biden White House and prominent Democrats.

The Soros network has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into elections and activist groups, often tipping the balance in favor of left-leaning candidates. Many on the Right argue this influence has led to skyrocketing crime rates, attacks on free speech, and deepening divisions in American society.

Trumpโ€™s threat comes less than a week after hisย FBI raidedย his foreign policy adviser-turned-criticย John Boltonโ€™sย home and office as part of what he slammed as a politically motivated investigation.

Bolton, who was national security adviser from 2018 to 2019, has often clashed with Trump since leaving the administration. The raid on his home marked a significant escalation in tensions between the former president and his one-time adviser.

When asked about the raid, Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday that he was not informed ahead of time but expected a briefing later.

Report: Denmark Calls On US Envoy Over Alleged Covert Greenland Interference Operations

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lรธkke Rasmussen summoned the top U.S. diplomat in Denmark over intelligence reports that Americans had conducted covertย influence operations in Greenland.ย

Danish public broadcaster DR reported that at least three people with ties to the Trump administration were conducting the operations. The broadcaster cited unnamed security and government sources.

“We are aware that foreign actors continue to show an interest in Greenland and its position in the Kingdom of Denmark. It is therefore not surprising if we experience outside attempts to influence the future of the Kingdom in the time ahead,” Rasmussen said in a statement sent to Fox News.ย

“Any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom will of course be unacceptable. In that light, I have asked the Ministry ofย Foreign Affairsย to summon the U.S. chargรฉ dโ€™affaires for a meeting at the ministry.”

Rasmussen also emphasized that the ties between Denmark and Greenland are “close” and “based on mutual trust.”

Earlier in his second term, Presidentย Donald Trumpย repeatedly spoke about seeking U.S. jurisdiction over Greenland, which is part of the Danish kingdom. In response to Trumpโ€™s remarks, both Denmark and Greenland have said that the island was not for sale.

โ€œFor purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,โ€ Trump said in the Truth Social post.

In late 2019, Trump said that buying Greenland, which is owned by Denmark, was โ€œstrategicallyโ€ interesting, triggering an angry response from Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

โ€œDenmark essentially owns it. Weโ€™re very good allies with Denmark. We protect Denmark like we protect large portions of the world,โ€ Trump said at the time.

โ€œStrategically, itโ€™s interesting, and weโ€™d be interested, but weโ€™ll talk to them a little bit. Itโ€™s not number one on the burner,โ€ he added.

The U.S. does not currently have an ambassador to Denmark, leaving American diplomat Mark Stroh to serve as the chargรฉ dโ€™affaires. Stroh was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.

One of the people suspected in the alleged influence operation reportedly compiled a list of U.S.-friendly Greenlanders, collected names of Trump opponents and allegedly encouraged locals to highlight cases portraying the Danish government negatively in U.S. media, according to reports. Additionally, two others are suspected of trying to create relationships with politicians, businesses and locals.

DR cited eight sources who believe the goal was to weaken ties between Denmark and Greenland.

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service allegedly told the outlet that it believes “particularly in the current situation, Greenland is a target for influence campaigns of various kinds.”

In May, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said “you cannot spy against an ally” in response to reports that the U.S. was gathering intelligence on Greenland.

Former DHS Official Concerns He Could Be Next After Bolton FBI Raid

    2

Miles Taylor, a former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official during the Trump administration, said Saturday he believes he could be targeted next by federal investigators after the FBI searched the home of former national security adviser John Bolton.

The search took place early Friday at Boltonโ€™s residence in Bethesda, Maryland. The FBI confirmed it was conducting a โ€œcourt-authorized law enforcement activity,โ€ reportedly tied to Boltonโ€™s handling of classified material.

Taylor, who served as a deputy chief of staff at DHS, told MSNBCโ€™s Jonathan Capehart that he and his family expect he may be among the next individuals investigated.

โ€œWhen my wife and I woke up and saw the news, she basically said to me, โ€˜Itโ€™s coming,โ€™โ€ Taylor said. He suggested the Biden-era Justice Department has been pursuing political opponents and claimed a โ€œrevenge campaignโ€ is underway.

Taylor, who has previously accused President Trump of keeping a โ€œblacklistโ€ of critics, said the situation raises concerns about fairness in the justice system. โ€œItโ€™s not about us,โ€ he said, referring to himself and Bolton. โ€œItโ€™s about the criminal justice system that all Americans expect to treat them fairly.โ€

Trump Threatens To Investigate Chris Christie

President Trump openly confirmed he is considering launching an investigation into former ally and New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

Trumpย wrote on his Truth Social platformย late Sunday that Christie had lied about 2013 lane closures on the George Washington Bridge โ€œin order to stay out of prison, at the same time sacrificing people who worked for him.โ€ The president was referring to a decision by Christieโ€™s associates to close access lanes to the bridge, which links New Jersey and Manhattan, in order to punish the Democratic mayor of a New Jersey town.

โ€œChris refused to take responsibility for these criminal acts,โ€ Trump wrote. โ€œFor the sake of JUSTICE, perhaps we should start looking at that very serious situation again? NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!โ€

The 2013 โ€œBridgegateโ€ closures created days of traffic jams, and the scandal tarnished Christieโ€™s reputation andย helped to destroyย his 2016 presidential candidacy. Christie has long denied any knowledge of the plan. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

It was not immediately clear what aspect of Christieโ€™s Sunday appearance on ABCโ€™s โ€œThis Weekโ€ had led President Trump to threaten him on social media.

Christie mentioned the president by name after he was asked by the journalist Jonathan Karl whether Vice President JD Vance, who has defended the criminal investigation into Mr. Bolton, is playing a role in it.

Christie responded by mentioning what he called the administrationโ€™s disregard for the idea of separation between the president and criminal investigations. He noted that Mr. Trump had recently described himself as the nationโ€™s โ€œchief law enforcement officer.โ€

โ€œDonald Trump sees himself as the person who gets to decide everything, and he doesnโ€™t care about any separation,โ€ Christie told Karl. โ€œIn fact, he absolutely rejects the idea that there should be separation between criminal investigations and the politically elected leader of the United States. This is much different than itโ€™s ever been run before.โ€

    Watch:

Then on Monday, he doubled down after being asked if he plans โ€œto investigate Chris Christie.โ€

โ€œLook, Chris is a slob, everybody knows it. I know Chris better than anybody in the room. I always felt he was guilty. But what he did is he took the George Washington Bridge, which is very serious, he closed down the George Washington Bridge,โ€ answered Trump. โ€œAnd you had medical people, You had ambulances caught up. You know, this thing was closed down. And obviously he knew about it. But he blamed the young lady that worked for him, and another person, and they got into a lot of trouble. She ultimately was, I donโ€™t know, exonerated, but she got out of it a little bit. But she went through hell. She was a young mother, nice person, I knew her a little bit. And another man went to jail. And Chris got off.โ€

โ€œAnd so when I listen to Chris speak his hate, I say, โ€˜Oh, what about the George Washington Bridge?โ€™ You know? โ€˜Tell me about the George Washington Bridge.โ€™ He blamed other people, but he knew all about it. So, no, I donโ€™t know. If they want to look at it โ€” not for me. โ€” if they want look at it, they can. You could askย Pam [Bondi]. I think we have other things to do, but I always thought he got away with murder,โ€ he concluded.

Several members of Christieโ€™s administration were ultimately convicted for their role in helping shut down multiple lanes of the George Washington Bridge back in 2013, though those convictions were later thrown out by the Supreme Court.

Report: Jeanine Pirro Turned Down The Number Two Spot At The FBI

      2

A new report indicates that former Fox News star and current U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro declined President Donald Trumpโ€™s invitation to serve under FBI Director Kash Patel.

The New York Timesโ€™ Glenn Thrush reported that โ€œLate last year, after Mr. Trump tapped Kash Patel, a podcaster with scant law enforcement experience, to be F.B.I. director, his aides approached Ms. Pirro about becoming his deputy,โ€ citing two sources familiar with the exchange.

But Pirro, whose legal experience includes serving as a prosecutor and judge in New Yorkโ€™s Westchester County, turned down the role, even though she had โ€œtried and failed to secure a top Justice Department jobโ€ during Trumpโ€™s first term.

The reason, according to Thrush, was Pirro had โ€œno interestโ€ in working for Patel.

The job ultimately went to former Fox News contributor and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino.

On Monday, the Justice Department announced Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey will step into the Trump administration as co-deputy director of the FBI.

Bailey, who stepped down from his role as attorney general effective September 8, will hold his newly-created position alongside current FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and serve under FBI Director Kash Patel.

Pirro went on to take over the U.S. attorneyโ€™s office in the District of Columbia, even though she โ€œhas not run a prosecutorโ€™s office in the iPhone era,โ€ Thrush wrote, adding that Pirro has not made it known whether she โ€œhopes to ascendโ€ to a bigger role in the DOJ.

โ€œLike many big-shot outsiders who take on medium-shot government jobs, Ms. Pirro has been aggravated by red tape, particularly requirements that she obtain approval of other officials before taking actions she would have done unilaterally as Westchester County district attorney two decades ago,โ€ Thrush wrote.

Pirroโ€™s focus so far has been on stamping out violent crime in Washington, D.C.

On Monday, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Nathalie Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in the District of Columbia on Saturday in connection with making a series of threats on social media in which she threatened to kill President Trump.

โ€œHi everyone, itโ€™s Judge Jeanine. I just wanted to let you know here from the United States Attorneyโ€™s Office in D.C. that an individual by the name of Nathalie Rose Jones is now in custody, charged with two federal crimes for knowingly and willfully threatening to take the life of the President of the United States,โ€ Pirro said in a clip she released on social media.

โ€œShe did come from New York to Washington, D.C. and she has been threatening and calling for the removal of the president and even worse as she got to D.C. Her threats were on Facebook and Instagram and she continued to call the president a terrorist and was working to have him eliminated. She is now in custody. She will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Make no mistake about that,โ€ Pirro said with a hint of a smile.

Police Apprehend Suspects Linked To DOGE Staffer Beating

      2

A former staffer from President Trumpโ€™s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) โ€” affectionately known by insiders as โ€œBig Ballsโ€ โ€” was the target of a violent attempted carjacking early Sunday morning in the heart of the nationโ€™s capital.

Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old software engineer and one of the standout young voices behind Trumpโ€™s government-cutting initiative, was ambushed around 3 a.m. in the Logan Circle neighborhood โ€” a once-proud district now plagued by rising crime and emboldened youth gangs.

According to police, a pack of teens approached Coristine and his girlfriend near their vehicle. The thugs made threats about stealing the car before Coristine โ€” in true America First fashion โ€” pushed his girlfriend to safety and prepared to defend himself.

The mob attacked him until law enforcement officers, thankfully patrolling nearby, intervened. The suspects scattered, but two 15-year-old males were later apprehended and charged with unarmed carjacking.

This disturbing incident is yet another example of what happens when Democrat-run cities allow lawlessness to fester

Trump on Tuesday called for the District of Columbia to change its laws to allow for teenagers 14 and older to be prosecuted as adults and face lengthy prison sentences.

He shared on Truth Social a graphic image of the bloodied former DOGE employee, but did not name Coristine, and included a lengthy message attacking violent crime in Washington. Trump blamed the cityโ€™s crime on local โ€œyouths,โ€ who he said were not fearful of consequences.

โ€œThey are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but itโ€™s going to happen now!โ€ the president wrote. โ€œThe Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these โ€˜minorsโ€™ as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14. The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs.โ€

โ€œWashington, D.C., must be safe, clean, and beautiful for all Americans and, importantly, for the World to see,โ€ Trump added. โ€œIf D.C. doesnโ€™t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that theyโ€™re not going to get away with it anymore.โ€

Former Bravo Star Says Trump Voters Need to be Banned from Mexican Restaurants in Profane Rant

Former Bravo reality TV star Jennifer Welch went on an expletive-filled rant demanding people who voted for Presidentย Donald Trumpย three times be banned from Mexican and Chinese restaurants on Thursday.

“Iโ€™ve had it with White people that triple Trumped that have the nerve and the audacity to walk into a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, an Indian restaurant, go to perhaps their gay hairdresser,” Welch commented on her podcast “Iโ€™ve Had It.”

She recalled an instance of seeing “MAGA-looking people” at a Mexican restaurant and said they had “a lot of f—ing nerve” given the Trump administrationโ€™s immigration policies.

“Frankly, I donโ€™t think you should be able to enjoy anything but Cracker Barrel,” Welch said. “If you want to triple Trump, if you want to browbeat DEI, if you want to browbeat gay people, you want to browbeat Black people, as you have been doing for four hundred years. And you want to browbeat this generation of immigrants that come over here and open up business earnestly and pay their taxes.”

Welch continued by attacking Trump as a “teeny-weeny mushroom c— piece of s— Cankles McTaco Tits.”

She added, “White people that triple Trumped should be banned, boycotted from enjoying the best thing that America has to offer, which is multiculturalism. Get your fat a– out of the Mexican restaurant. Get your fat a– over toย Cracker Barrelย because nobody wants to see your f—ing smug a– teeny-weeny, pink arm, big gut around. Nobody wants to see that s—. No one.”

Her co-host Angie “Pumps” Sullivan said she “completely” agreed and went one step further by attacking female Trump voters.

“I want you to give up a credit card in your name,” Sullivan said. “I want you to give up the bank account in your name. And I want you to be completely beholden to a man. I don’t want you to work. I want you to stay home and make cornflakes from scratch for that f—er because that’s what you’re voting for.”

She continued, “When they’re talking about the golden age and ‘let’s make America great again,’ they’re talking about you having less rights than men, not be able to have a credit card, not being able to own anything in your own name. So, triple Trump country club Christian White women, you should have to forfeit those luxuries.”

In a comment to Fox News, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson attacked Welch’s comments as “out of touch with reality” based on Trump’s “historically diverse coalition.”

“Rich liberal white women love to pretend to be champions of diversity until they are confronted by diversity of thought. President Trump was elected by a historically diverse coalition of Americans from all races, religions, and orientations. As per usual this reality star is out of touch with reality,” Jackson said.

Former Governor Schwarzenegger Teases A Fight Against Newsom Over Redistricting Plan

Former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger teased a potential return to politics…

On Friday, the Hollywood icon teased a fight with Gov. Gavin Newsomโ€™s (D) redistricting push in a post on social media as Democrats in the state look to redraw their maps in response to similar moves in Texas, which triggered some lawmakers to flee the state.

โ€œIโ€™m getting ready for the gerrymandering battle,โ€ Schwarzenegger wrote, including a photo of him lifting weights. He also wore a shirt that read โ€œF*** the politiciansโ€ and โ€œterminate gerrymandering.โ€

California is moving forward with their own plans to redraw their stateโ€™s map as it looks to neutralize a proposed House map in Texas that would net the Republicans five seats there.

โ€œWeโ€™re putting maps on the ballot, and weโ€™re giving the power to the people,โ€ Newsom said at a rally on Thursday. โ€œThis will be the first redistricting thatโ€™s ever done that. Thatโ€™s the difference.โ€

California is expected to see a special election over the mid-decade redistricting in November.

โ€œGovernor Schwarzenegger has a 20 year history of battling gerrymandering, taking power from the politicians and returning it to the people where it belongs, and he believes gerrymandering is evil no matter who does it. He still stands by the rule we learn in pre-school: two wrongs donโ€™t make a right,โ€ Daniel Ketchell, a spokesman for the former governor, said in a statement earlier this year.

โ€œHe will continue to be on the side of the people and not politicians โ€“ from either party โ€“ on this issue,โ€ he added.

Father Cancer Survivor DJ Daniel Runs For Texas 18th District Seat

          2

Theodis Daniel, the father of Devarjayย “DJ” Daniel, is jumping into the political arena.

Speaking first to Fox News Digital, Daniel saidย he’s ready to fightย for Texas’ 18th congressional district.ย

Daniel joins a crowded field of candidates from across the political spectrum, but the father and veteran said his campaign is unlike the others.

“I’m a regular guy. I am not a politician,” Daniel said. “I don’t have six-figure deals. I’m just a regular dude trying to make it. Single dad. I got three kids to myself. I’m a disabled veteran just trying to make a difference regardless of what I’m going through.”

The Republican candidate said he is running “for those who struggle,” explaining that his campaign priorities โ€“ supporting law enforcement, safety, healthcare and education โ€“ aren’t just abstract ideas but “battles my family and I face every day.”

Daniel’s 13-year-old son, DJ, was named an honorary U.S. Secret Service agent during President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress earlier this year. Daniel proudly raised his son up over his shoulder as politicians jumped to their feet for a standing ovation.

The moment catapulted Daniel into the national conversation, and the 13-year-old was invited to visit Trump at the White House the following day.

Daniel has now been sworn in at more than 1,300 law enforcement agencies across the country, the White House confirmed in May.

“DJ initially had five months to live, and we’ve beaten that,” Daniel shared with Fox News.

Texas is holding a special election on Nov. 4 to replace the late Rep. Sylvester Turner, who succeeded the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Lee represented Texasโ€™ 18th congressional district for nearly three decades before her death in July 2024. Turner also died in March 2025, leading to the current special election.
