CNN Reporter Stunned By Turnout At Trump’s Rally In The Bronx

    9

Democrats don’t like the look of this…

CNN reporter Kristen Holmes was on the ground at former President Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx on Thursday and couldn’t help but say she was stunned by the turnout in the deep blue community.

During the rally, Trump was joined on stage at one point by rappers “Sheff G” and “Sleepy Hallow,” who both endorsed him, and some Bronx residents expressed their surprise that a presidential candidate would hold a rally in their neighborhood.

While describing the rally to CNN host Anderson Cooper, Holmes said Trump had attracted “a bigger crowd than I think Democrats would like to see, particularly given this is one of the bluest counties in the entire country.”

Holmes added that Trump’s event in the Bronx didn’t just pull in people from miles away who travel to the former president’s campaign rallies.

“One of the things that was interesting to me is that the Trump campaign said that they were going to micro-target to get people from the community to come to this rally. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I’ve gone to a lot of these rallies across the country, and there are often people who travel hundreds of miles to see Donald Trump and they’re not necessarily part of the community. However, one of the things that I found was that there were a lot of people here that were actually from the Bronx,” Holmes reported.

Biden Campaign Discreetly Meets With Top Haley Supporters After Trump Endorsement

On Wednesday night, just hours after the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations declared her support for Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

The Daily Beast has the latest on the underreported pilgrimage and what it means for both sides:

In the previously unreported meeting, a Biden campaign representative listened to the concerns of top Haley supporters from various states as part of Bidenworld’s ongoing outreach to win over Haley voters.

“The fact they actually sent someone last night to speak to a small group … I think that’s a good signal that they’re aware there are huge numbers of Haley voters out there,” Robert Schwartz, founder of the Haley Voters For Biden PAC, told The Daily Beast. Schwartz said the meeting was highly encouraging, and likened it to other listening sessions the Biden campaign has done with the pro-Palestinian uncommitted vote.

The Biden campaign did not immediately return a request for comment on the meeting.

Ever since the GOP primary wrapped up, the Biden team has identified Haley voters as a key persuasion target with a unique set of key issues, particularly around Trump’s attacks on democracy and the general notion of restoring decency to the office. The Biden campaign has continued trying to refine their definition of a persuadable Haley voter over the past few months, focusing on paid media, Haley’s margins in key battleground precincts from the primary, and simply listening to their concerns.

Haley’s shift towards Trump comes after her strong opposition to him during her own presidential bid.

When Haley suspended her presidential campaign over two months ago, she did not endorse Trump. The decision to withhold support appeared to be a strategic move to establish her as a principled opponent within the party, hoping to attract the 20% of Republicans who backed her and others dissatisfied with Trump. Notably, Haley stated in yesterday’s remarks that although she intends to vote for Trump, he must do more to court her supporters. (RELATED: Trump Denies Considering Nikki Haley For Vice President)

Wednesday’s announcement sparked considerable speculation. Some observers hypothesized that she hopes to secure a significant role in a future Trump administration. Another possibility is that Haley is laying the groundwork for a future White House bid. Refusing to support Trump would alienate the vast majority of the GOP base, making it difficult for her to gain traction in a future primary campaign – especially if he loses.

Despite Trump securing the necessary delegates to be the Republican nominee, many Never Trump voters have continued casting their ballots for Haley. (RELATED: Haley’s Pennsylvania Primary Showing Could Spell Trouble For Trump)

Polls indicate that while some Never Trump voters remain resolute in their opposition, many are willing to support Trump in November, driven by more pragmatic considerations, such as the economy or judicial nominees.

The extent to which they rally behind the former president could make all the difference in the election’s outcome. Voter apathy remains a concern for both sides in closely contested states.

Trump Reveals Latest Change In Biden Debate Plan

        2

Former President Donald Trump just revealed the Biden camp has made yet another adjustment to the scheduled televised debates after already making a number of changes.

Among Biden’s initial non-negotiable proposed standards were no live audience, a select variety of networks to host, and only two candidates on stage.

Now there appear to be more. Trump told John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby on 77 WABC AM that the Biden campaign is requesting that the candidates sit at a table for the entirety of the debate.

“I hear now we’re sitting at tables. I don’t want to sit at a table,” Trump said.

“I said, ‘No, let’s stand.’ But they want to sit at a table,” Trump continued. “So we’ll be sitting at a table as opposed to doing it the way you should be, in my opinion, in a debate.”

“But I agree to their requests because I want to debate him,” Trump told Catsimatidis and Cosby.

“I want him to tell us why he did that in Afghanistan, why it was the worst, most embarrassing day in history where we gave back — think of it — we gave them 85 billion dollars worth of equipment. 13 people killed, 45 people just so badly hurt —of our people — and hundreds of people killed overall. And we left hostages behind. I call them hostages. We left a lot of Americans behind,” the former president continued.

In addition to no live audience, Biden’s campaign proposed that the debates only be held by networks that hosted the 2016 Republican primary debates and the 2020 Democratic primary debates in 2020, The NYT reported. Those networks include CNN, ABC News, Telemundo and CBS News.

Biden and Trump have both accepted two debates: one on June 27 broadcasted on CNN and the other Sept. 10 on ABC News. Trump has accepted a proposal for a vice presidential debate on Fox News, though the Biden campaign has not. Instead, the Biden campaign opted to accept CBS News’ vice presidential debate proposal.

Nikki Haley Announces Plans To Vote For Trump

Despite initially stating that Donald Trump must decide if he wants to win her support, along with the primary voters who backed her campaign, Nikki Haley has announced who she’ll be supporting in the 2024 presidential election.

It’s none other than Donald Trump.

The former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations announced her support for Trump’s 2024 bid on Wednesday afternoon during an appearance at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C.

        As The Hill reports:

“As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses. A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt not more debt,” Haley said at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank.

“Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear, many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump,” Haley said.

Haley joined the Hudson Institute as its Walter P. Stern chair in April. Her remarks at the institute come as she continues to be a significant presence in Republican presidential primary results, despite having suspended her campaign in March.

“Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just going to be with him.”

Prominent Trump Critic Stands Up For Alito Following Second Incident With Jan. 6-Aligned Flag

Critics are calling for a Supreme Court justice to recuse himself from two cases involving former President Donald Trump, asserting that failing to do so will cause “irreparable damage” to the Court.

On Wednesday, The New York Times reported that another Jan. 6-aligned flag was seen flying at one of Justice Samuel Alito‘s residences, this time at his New Jersey vacation home. Last week, the paper published a report detailing how an upside-down American flag flew at the Alitos’ Northern Virginia home days after the U.S. Capitol riot.

In light of recent developments, some of the most vocal critics of Trump, such as Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), are calling for Justice Alito to recuse himself from the landmark Trump presidential immunity case. They are also requesting his recusal from a case involving a former Pennsylvania police officer and Jan. 6 participant, specifically regarding whether obstruction charges against him should stand.

“If Justice Alito does not recuse himself from the Trump immunity case and the Fischer January 6 case, he will do irreparable damage to the Supreme Court. And Chief Justice Roberts must step in.” @RepDanGoldman on Alito’s widening insurrectionist flag scandal pic.twitter.com/YQ1rt5VQR2— Alex Wagner Tonight (@WagnerTonight) May 23, 2024

The calls don’t appear to be subsiding. So far, Alito has not responded. Surprisingly, former National Security Adviser John Bolton strongly defended the conservative justice on CNN, despite being a prominent critic of the 45th president himself.

        As The Hill reports:

“Absolutely not,” Bolton told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer when asked whether the recent reporting about the flag raised concerns about whether he can serve impartially on the Supreme Court.

“I think it is outrageous, outrageous and unacceptable, for people to take a flag from the American Revolution and say that because some January 6 protesters flew it, that it’s now unacceptable to fly that flag, and I’d like to hear a Democratic Party politician say that expressly,” added Bolton, who has frequently been critical of former President Trump and the risk he says Trump poses to the country’s national security.

An “Appeal to Heaven” flag – which has origins dating back to the Revolutionary War but is associated with Christian nationalism and “Stop the Steal” efforts today – was seen flying outside Alito’s New Jersey beach home in July and September 2023, the Times reported, around the same time a high-profile Jan. 6 case arrived at the Supreme Court.

The flag was also toted by rioters at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

“The January 6 people flew a lot of flags,” Bolton maintained. “They don’t have the right or the ability to expropriate a patriotic symbol of the United States, and then have everybody else say it belongs to them and condemn Sam Alito or anybody else for flying that flag.”

Bolton’s remarks are particularly notable as he took the opportunity with Blitzer to insult Nikki Haley for pledging her support to Trump.

Report: Trump Team Surpasses Biden In Fundraising For First Time

          This is big news…

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign passed President Joe Biden’s campaign in monthly fundraising for the first time in April, according to Reuters.

Trump, alongside the Republican National Committee (RNC), which his camp has partnered with, raised $76 million in the month of April, Reuters reported Tuesday. Biden and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) raised about $25 million less than their competitors, bringing in $51 million in April.

In March, the Biden campaign and the DNC brought in $90 million, while Trump and the RNC brought in $65.6 million. The former president’s team had $93.1 million cash on hand while Biden’s team had $192 million.

The presumptive Republican nominee has been surging in recent polls.

The former president is leading a recent New York Times/Siena College survey that shows Trump ahead of Biden across Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin by as much as 13 points.

Ex-Obama Official Warns What A Second Trump Win Means For SCOTUS

A second Trump presidency will have a lasting impact…

Former adviser to President Barack Obama recently predicted on a podcast that if Trump wins the November election he will secure a “MAGA court majority” for years to come.

Pod Save America co-host Dan Pfeiffer sounded alarm bells over the former President’s past Supreme Court picks and cautioned listeners against supporting the presumed Republican nominee.

“Think about the stakes of the Supreme Court. If Donald Trump wins, he will almost certainly get two more appointments. By the end of Trump’s second term — were he to win — [Clarence] Thomas will be 82, [Samuel] Alito will be 78,” he said.

Pfeiffer and his co-hosts agreed the pair will “definitely” be retiring in a second Trump term. Pfeiffer also noted Justice Sonia Sotomayor will also be 72 when Trump would be leaving a second term.

Trump would ultimately have five appointments to the Supreme Court, creating a “MAGA” majority for decades, the political advisor argued.

“If he gets two appointments, that means he will have appointed five Supreme Court Justices, all of whom will be around or below the age of 60 when he leaves office,” he said. “That is a court majority — a MAGA court majority that will rule for decades. We can win the next however many presidential elections and absent something sort of extraordinary happening, Trump’s fingerprints will be all over the Supreme Court and so I think we should make this a big issue.”

Potential VP Flips On Trump Deportation Stance

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) is changing his tune on Trump’s deportation plan.

“Yes,” Rubio said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, where he was asked whether he supports Trump’s plan to use the military to deport illegal immigrants from the country. “We cannot absorb 25, 30 million people who entered this country illegally. They’re here illegally, what country on earth could tolerate that?”

The comments were in stark contrast to Rubio’s previous stance on the issue, most notably as a primary rival of Trump’s in 2015. Rubio was critical of the Trump plan to round up and deport the millions of illegal immigrants living in the United States, panning the idea as “not a workable plan.”

Pushed on why his stance has changed since campaigning against Trump nearly a decade ago, the Florida Senator argued that the situation itself has changed since then.

“When I said that back in 2013 when I was involved in immigration reform, we had 11, 12 million people that had been here for longer than a decade, now we’ve had almost that number in the last three years alone,” Rubio said, noting that he believes some of those who have entered the country more recently could include “terrorists.”

Trump has vowed to implement a plan of mass deportation if he wins November’s election, promising last month to use the National Guard if needed to deport illegal immigrants from the country.

Rubio has been floated as a potential contender for vice president among other popular Florida Republicans such as Rep. Byron Donalds and former primary rival Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Former Situation Room Officer Says Pence Came ‘Close’ To Being Killed on Jan. 6

A former Situation Room officer said former Vice President Mike Pence came “close” to being killed on Jan. 6, 2021, during the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“It’s important to me that we don’t forget that it did come that close, and that we did have discussions, ‘If we lose the [vice president,] if the 25th [Amendment] is invoked,’” Mike Stiegler said in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “We started running through all of these game plans because it was getting close.”

Stiegler also agreed with Stephanopoulos when he referred to the Jan. 6. riot as one “of our own people” and “inspired” by Trump.

“But at the time, that’s not even in the forefront of our mind,” Stiegler continued. “It doesn’t matter how we got here. We’re here. How do we execute? How do we move forward?”

Pence faced threats of violence on Jan. 6 for refusing to overturn the 2020 election. He was at the Capitol when rioters broke in and was taken to an underground loading dock amid the attack, according to the Secret Service.

In March, Pence said that he will not endorse his former boss, saying he was “incredibly proud” of the Trump administration’s record, but “there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues.”

“In each of these cases, Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years,” Pence said. “And that’s why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign.”

              Trump To Attend Son’s Graduation

                1

It’s a big day for the Trump family…

Barron Trump, 18, will graduate from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday. The graduation ceremony is private.

According to Fox News, Barron Trump will go to college, but it is unclear which university he has selected. The former president has previously floated the possibility of his son attending his own alma mater, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Tiffany Trump also graduated. Eric Trump attended Georgetown University.

The former President had been pushing for weeks to attend his son’s high school graduation as he is currently required to be there for court proceedings in the ongoing hush money trial.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. He maintains his innocence.
