Tensions were running high after the House of Representatives voted to oust former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

According to a new report from The Washington Post, McCarthy cursed out former President Donald Trump after he refused to defend the California Republican to his colleagues.

    The Hill has more:

After Trump gave McCarthy a list of reasons why he didn’t support the former Speaker in a phone call, McCarthy let loose, the Post report said.

“F‑‑‑ you,” he told Trump, according to two sources McCarthy told about the conversation, the Post reported.

While Trump did not offer to support McCarthy after being ousted as Speaker the former president later explicitly endorsed Jim Jordan for the position.

McCarthy has defended Trump in the wake of numerous civil and federal investigations into the former President.

Released DOJ Search Warrant For Trump’s Twitter Account Reveals Broader Investigation

Back in August, Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained a search warrant for former President Donald Trump’s X/Twitter account despite pushback from the social media giant.

The initial resistance prompted a federal judge to hold the company in contempt and issue a $350,000 fine.

Eventually, the social media company now known as X complied (after the court-ordered deadline) but was prohibited from telling Trump about it.

An unsealed indictment revealed that Smith’s team cited Trump’s tweets while outlining his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

But that’s not at, as Twitchy reports:

More is now known about the warrant, and you might not be shocked to know this was about more than just Trump:

These people are completely out of control:

Influential Conservative Network Endorses Nikki Haley

      4

The political network founded by the Koch brothers is endorsing Nikki Haley in the Republican presidential primary race according to a Tuesday memo.

Americans for Prosperity Action’s endorsement bolsters Haley’s campaign as Republicans get closer to the Iowa Caucuses. Haley is largely seen as the candidate most likely to topple Ron DeSantis for the No. 2 position in the primary field. Trump has so far dominated the primary field despite refusing to participate in any debates.

“In sharp contrast to recent elections that were dominated by the negative baggage of Donald Trump and in which good candidates lost races that should have been won, Nikki Haley, at the top of the ticket, would boost candidates up and down the ballot,” reads the memo from Emily Seidel, a senior adviser to Americans for Prosperity Action, who adds that Ms. Haley would win “the key independent and moderate voters that Trump has no chance to win.”

The memo goes on to say that the country “is being ripped apart by extremes on both sides,” adding: “The moment we face requires a tested leader with the governing judgment and policy experience to pull our nation back from the brink. Nikki Haley is that leader.”

The group has been committed to opposing Mr. Trump’s return as leader of the Republican Party. In a memo in February, Ms. Seidel, who also serves as the president of Americans for Prosperity, the political network’s parent group, wrote: “We need to turn the page on the past. So the best thing for the country would be to have a president in 2025 who represents a new chapter.”

In recent months, Haley’s popularity has surged among Republicans and political pundits but the endorsement from the super PAC established by David and Charles Koch could prove Haley’s campaign the push it needs. It will give her access to a direct-mail operation, field workers to knock on doors and people making phone calls to prospective voters in Iowa and beyond. The group has money to spend on television advertisements, as well.

Americans for Prosperity Action has been among the country’s largest spenders on anti-Trump material this year, buying online ads and sending mailers to voters in several states, including Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. All told, the group has spent more than $9 million in independent expenditures opposing Mr. Trump.

Report: Colorado Supreme Court To Hear Trump 14th Amendment Appeal

      2

The Colorado Supreme Court will hear appeals weighing whether Donald Trump should be barred from the state’s 2024 ballot due to the 14th Amendment.

Last week, a judge ruled that former President Donald Trump must be allowed on next year’s Republican primary ballot.

Trump and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which filed the lawsuit on behalf of six Colorado voters, have both appealed the decision.

The 14th Amendment disqualification trial focused on Trump’s actions before and during the U.S. Capitol riot and whether they violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Section 3 states:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability

Trump in his appeal to the Colorado Supreme Court said he agreed with the latter part of the ruling keeping him on the state’s ballot but is appealing on other issues.

“But the district court nonetheless made legal and factual findings wholly unsupported in the law, and these errors demand review – especially if the Petitioners in this matter also seek review of the sole dispositive issue upon which President Trump prevailed,” Trump’s attorneys wrote.

Colorado District Judge Sarah Wallace said in her ruling that that language means the 14th Amendment can’t be used to prevent Trump from appearing on the ballot, regardless of whether the then-president’s actions on Jan. 6 cleared the threshold.

Wallace ruled the presidency was not an “office … under the United States” because the 14th Amendment explicitly lists all federal elected positions, except for the presidency and vice presidency. Wallace further ruled Trump was not an “officer of the United States” in the first place, referencing other constitutional provisions that distinguish the presidency from federal officers.

“Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, passed after the Civil War, excludes from federal or state office those who engaged in insurrection against the Constitution after previously taking an oath to support it,” CREW argued in its appeal brief.

Democrat Congressman Back Pedals After Trump Threat

A Democrat lawmaker is apologizing after calling to “eliminate” Donald Trump.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-Ny) made the incendiary comments during a recent MSNBC interview.

“This man [Trump] cannot see public office again,” he told former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. “He’s not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy and he has to be- he has to be eliminated.”

Goldman’s comment was particularly ironic given he had just argued Trump’s “rhetoric is really getting dangerous, more and more dangerous.”

However, it was;t long before Goldman issued an apology for his comments toward the former President.

“Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again,” he wrote on X. “While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words.”

Trump White House Lawyer Predicts What Will Land Him In Jail

Is Donald Trump headed to the big house?

Former Trump Administration White House lawyer,  Ty Cobb said he thinks former President Trump’s “narcissism” will ultimately land him in jail.

“I don’t think his first or second violation of the gag order will find him sent to jail, but I think ultimately, his narcissism will get the best of him,” Cobb told CNN’s Erin Burnett on Monday. “And he will violate it until he finds out what the limits of Judge Chutkan’s patience are.”

Cobb served as a lawyer for the Trump administration from July 2017 until May 2018.

The former White House attorney also predicted the court will uphold Judge Tanya Chutkan’s limited gag order in the former president’s federal election interference case. On Monday, a three-judge panel considered Trump’s attempt to halt the gag order imposed in the case.

Burnett suggested that if Trump were to violate the gag order, he could spend a night or two in jail. Cobb said “that’s exactly right.”

The judges asked skeptical and aggressive questions of attorneys on both sides while they were deciding whether to put back in place the gag order, The Associated Press noted.

“The judges were frustrated with both sides a little today because of the vagaries of, you know, their interpretation of the order and the arguments that they were making,” Cobb said in response. “But in the end … I think this task boils down to using that, you know, scalpel skillfully to demonstrate what target or targeting actually means and … what areas of speech are actually being circumscribed by the need to avoid undermining the integrity of the judicial process.”

“I think that task is well within the capability of these judges and Judge Chutkan,” he added.

Trump Scores First Major Endorsement From GOP Senator

On Monday, Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kans.) endorsed former President Trump in the 2024 presidential race, calling for an end to the “political primary charade.”

Marshall, who has been a staunch Trump supporter since his first term in the Oval Office, said he is endorsing Trump to bolster the priorities of farmers, restore border security and slash inflation rates caused by the Biden administration.

“Since the day Joe Biden stepped foot in the Oval Office, this White House declared war on American agriculture and American energy independence in pursuit of their Green New Deal agenda and electric vehicle mandates,” Marshall said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Joe Biden declared war on American sovereignty by opening our borders, ceding control to the cartels, allowing nearly 10 million illegal aliens into our country, and permitting lethal fentanyl to pour into our communities,” he continued.

Marshall blamed Biden’s “absent leadership” and said he abandoned the country’s “Christian values and undermined our constitutional rights.”

“Our farmers and ranchers feed the world, and Kansans deserve a President who understands that, and a leader who values the energy Americans produce. That is why I’m endorsing President Donald Trump. While others may try to imitate him, only President Trump will put our country back on track on day one,” he said.

“Along with the onslaught of strangling regulations, Joe Biden declared war on our economy by unleashing a level of federal spending never seen in modern history, causing the highest inflation and interest rates that we’ve seen in decades,” he said.

The endorsement comes on the heels of another major win for Team Trump. Over the weekend, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also officially endorsed the former President.

During a Sunday campaign event at the border, Abbott touted Trump’s success at keeping the border secure.

“We need a president who is going to secure the border,” Abbott said. “We need a president who is going to restore law and order in the United States of America, not letting these criminals run ransack over the stores that you see images of almost nightly.”

“We need a president who is going to restore world peace, as opposed to this outbreak of warfare under Joe Biden. We need Donald J. Trump back as our President of the United States of America. I’m here to officially proclaim my endorsement for Donald J. Trump to be President of the United States of America again!”

Trump said that it was a “tremendous honor” to get Abbott’s endorsement while speaking to an audience of a few hundred supporters.

‘QAnon Shaman’ Eyes Run For Arizona Congressional Seat

Jacob Chansley, the Capitol rioter who came to be known as the “QAnon Shaman,” has reportedly filed paperwork signaling his interest in running for the Arizona congressional seat being vacated by Debbie Lesko (R).

The Arizona Republic reported that a candidate statement of interest was signed by Jacob Angeli-Chansley and filed with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office on Thursday, indicating he would seek to run as a Libertarian. He has also been known to go by Jacob Angeli.

            The Hill has more:

Chansley, 35, gained notoriety for his horned fur hat, bare chest and face paint that made him one of the more recognizable Jan. 6 rioters. He pleaded guilty to a charge of obstructing an official proceeding and sentenced to 41 months in prison. Chansley, who grew up in Phoenix, served 27 of those months before being released to a halfway house this past March.

The Associated Press reported that while the Constitution does not bar felons from running for Congress, Arizona law prevents them from voting in elections until they complete their sentence and have the right restored.

Former Republican Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters has also jumped into the race for Lesko’s seat.

“I’m running for Congress, to fight for Arizona’s 8th,” Masters said on X, formerly Twitter. “Biden has failed. We need Trump back. We need to stop inflation, Build the Wall, avoid WW3, and secure Arizona’s water future. We need to fight for our families.”

House Republicans Issue Criminal Referral Against Michael Cohen

Two Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee have recommended the Justice Department look at pursuing charges against former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

The criminal referral letter sent by House Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and committee member Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) accuses Cohen of committing perjury and having “knowingly made false statements” before the congressional panel four years ago.

“That Mr. Cohen was willing to openly and brazenly state at trial that he lied to Congress on this specific issue is startling,” the referral letter reads. “His willingness to make such a statement alone should necessitate an investigation.”

Amid cross-examination by Trump’s legal team late last month, Cohen testified that he lied under oath to the House Intelligence Committee in February 2019. In that testimony, Cohen said Trump did not ask him to inflate the numbers detailed in his statements of financial condition. However, Cohen then changed his testimony last month.

Alina Habba, one of Trump’s attorneys, tore into Cohen over the discrepancy during cross-examination.

“Mr. Cohen, were you being honest in front of the Permanent Select Committee when you testified on February 28, 2019?” Habba asked.

              “No,” Cohen replied.

“So you lied under oath in February of 2019? Is that your testimony?” Habba pressed.

              “Yes,” Cohen said.

While it urges prosecutors to take action, a criminal referral is largely symbolic and does not hold any legal weight.

Republican Billionaire Says Trump Failed To Meet ‘Low Expectations’

During a recent interview high-profile Republican billionaire Peter Theil said he was disappointed by former President Trump’s time in office.

During an interview with The Atlantic’s Barton Gellman, Thiel said “voting for Trump was like a not very articulate scream for help,” which he hoped would change the country for the better but ultimately he was left disappointed.

“There are a lot of things I got wrong,” Thiel told Gellman. “It was crazier than I thought. It was more dangerous than I thought. They couldn’t get the most basic pieces of the government to work. So that was—I think that part was maybe worse than even my low expectations.”

Thiel, who financially backed Trump in 2016, also told Glemman he recently received a call from Trump over his refusal to contribute to his latest campaign. Trump reportedly told Theil “he was very sad” and “had expected way more” from the Republican businessman.

“Months later, word got back to Thiel that Trump had called [Blake] Masters to discourage him from running for Senate again, and had called Thiel a ‘fucking scumbag,’” Gellman reported, adding that Thiel no longer wanted to make any donations to Republican candidates in the near future.

Thiel told Gellman, “There’s always a chance I might change my mind. But by talking to you, it makes it hard for me to change my mind. My husband doesn’t want me to give them any more money, and he’s right. I know they’re going to be pestering me like crazy. And by talking to you, it’s going to lock me out of the cycle for 2024.”

Thiel also called Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election “not helpful,” and reportedly told Gellman that while Trump “did not turn out to be the revolutionary Thiel had hoped he might be,” he would not “refashion himself a Never Trumper in retrospect.”

While the Republican billionaire has sworn off contributing to political candidates in the immediate future, Theil did express his support for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in May.
