Jury Reaches Verdict In Historic Trump Hush Money Trial

    This just in…

On Thursday, the Manhattan jury found Donald J. Trump, the 45th president of the United States, guilty on all charges.

Before the jury began deliberations, Judge Juan Merchan instructed its members that they did not need to have a unanimous verdict in order to convict the former president.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of a hush-money scheme to prevent porn star Stormy Daniels from speaking out about her alleged extramarital affair before the 2016 presidential election.

Before Trump, no sitting or former president ever faced criminal charges. This is the lowest level felony in New York, any potential sentence will more than likely be served after the 2024 election.

Trump has yet to respond to the verdict.

Trump, a slight favorite to win the White House, might face diminished support from some voters who aren’t keen on backing a candidate with a criminal record. On the flip side, it could galvanize his base and swing voters, who view the trial as a politically motivated attack while the economy languishes.

The political significance of the trial was on display Tuesday, as the Biden and Trump campaigns held dueling events outside the courthouse.

The Biden campaign featured actor Robert De Niro and retired law enforcement officers who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, for a press conference to bash Trump as dangerous.

It was the first time the Biden campaign held an event around the trial. Communications director Michael Tyler explained why it chose to do so, saying to the media, “Because you all are here.”

“We want to remind the American people … of the unique, persistent and growing threat that Donald Trump poses to the American people and to our democracy,” he said.

Trump’s team brushed off the Biden event as a sign of desperation.

“Why is Joe Biden now making this a campaign event after months of weaponizing the legal system against President Trump? Because Joe Biden’s numbers are in the tank,” senior Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller said.

Poll Reveals How Likely Trump Verdict Is To Sway Voters

Nothing can slow Donald Trump down now…

A recent report found that Trump’s criminal hush money trial is unlikely to deter voters as he awaits a verdict.

The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist national poll showed 67% of registered voters nationally wouldn’t be swayed by a guilty verdict against Trump, while 15% said it would make them more likely to vote for him. Another 17% said a guilty verdict would make them less likely to vote for Trump.

The 12-member jury is currently on day two of deliberations after the prosecution and defense concluded their closing arguments on Tuesday.

According to the Washington Examiner, among Republicans surveyed in the poll, 25% said a guilty verdict would make them more likely to vote for the former president, while 10% said it would make them less likely to vote for him. Only 7% of Democrats said a guilty verdict would make them more likely to vote for Trump, and 27% said it would make them less likely to vote for Trump.

Among coveted independent voters, 15% said a guilty verdict would make them more likely to vote for Trump, and 11% said it would make them less likely.

In contrast, 76% of all voters said a not-guilty verdict wouldn’t affect their votes.

The best-case scenario for Trump is acquittal however experts have noted outcome is unlikely as it would require all 12 jurors to find him innocent. The most realistic path for the defense is a hung jury, in which at least one juror dissents.

The former president is expected to appeal if he is found guilty. A conviction would not keep him from running for a second term.

Actor Dennis Quaid Says Why He’s Voting For Trump

        1

        He’s team Trump…

Well-known actor Dennis Quaid said in a recent interview that he plans to vote for Donald Trump in the November election.

The celebrity announced his support of the Republican candidate during an interview with Piers Morgan on British television when asked by Morgan what he thought of Trump.

“I think I’m gonna vote for him in the next election,” the actor said. “It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump, until what I saw is, more than politics, I see a weaponization of our justice system and a challenge to our Constitution.”

“Trump is the most investigated person, probably in the history of the world, and they haven’t been able to really get him on anything,” he added.

Quaid went on to reference many of Trump’s accomplishments…

“What he did with Korea, with Rocket Baby, the way he defeated ISIS in three weeks,” he continued. “You know, people don’t even remember, it happened so fast. How he stood up for us overseas. The way he responded to China. He stands up to people and that’s what makes him a leader. Rather than, what I kind of compare it to, what was going on in Jimmy Carter’s administration, where we’re trying to be everybody’s friend and pal.”

“And there’s some evil people and bad actors in this world and so, you know, people might call [Trump] an a**hole but he’s my a**hole,” Quaid said. “I’ll tell you one true thing about him is that I really feel that he is working for the American people. That’s what he’s all about, and I do believe that to be true and sincere.”

Ex-Trump Attorney’s Law License Suspended For Three Years

          0

          It’s official now…

Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for Donald Trump, has agreed to a three-year suspension of her law license in the state of Colorado due to her felony guilty plea in the Georgia election case.

Ellis is among the nearly 20 co-defendants indicted in Georgia for their alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in that state.

Ellis pled guilty in October and offered an apology for her actions as part of the deal.

“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges,” she continued according to Mediaite, claiming she “look[ed] back on this whole experience with deep remorse.”

On Tuesday afternoon, a Colorado state bar disciplinary judge approved a settlement between Ellis and Colorado’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel to suspend her license for three years, reported local Denver NBC affiliate 9News.

In the court’s opinion, the judge wrote that Ellis’ actions included multiple examples of “significant actual harm,” especially by how she “undermined the American public’s confidence in the presidential election process.”

In a letter submitted to the court as part of the deal to let her avoid disbarment, Ellis wrote that she was “choosing to take responsibility for my actions and my association with the harm caused to the nation by the post-election activities of 2020 on behalf of then-President Donald Trump.”

Read more of Ellis’ letter below:

Since my involvement in the Trump Campaign’s challenges to the election results, I have learned of the bad faith dealing and outright illegality of some actors involved. For example, I did not know at the time of the Campaign’s commissioned investigation into the 2020 election results, or that the President was notified in December 2020 that he had lost. A lot of new information has come out, which I encourage the public to consider.

…The harm of my participation in the Georgia Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing is painfully evident to this day. Millions have been misled by the cynical “Stop the Steal” campaign, and otherwise responsible leaders are still publicly maintaining that these false claims have merit. The lies were repeated, thereby becoming “true” to a large segment of the populace. For democracy to function and thrive, the people have to believe that their votes count and that the electoral system is fair. This is what “election integrity” should mean, rather than what it has become for many: a political statement of “loyalty.” This faith in the integrity of our elections was damaged. That is the harm. While I do not doubt that this mindset would still prevail even if I didn’t play a part in it, I am ashamed and remorseful that I was involved to the extent that I was. Had I known then what I know now, I would not have been involved.

…I will hopefully encourage others who may still believe that the election was “stolen” to consider changing their position. Everything that has come out since has not proven that claim.

Ellis’ suspension will reportedly begin on July 2. She is also required to pay $5,000 to the Georgia secretary of state, roughly $1,700 in fines and costs to the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, complete 100 hours of community service, and write an apology letter to the residents of Georgia for her actions.

If she wishes to reinstate her Colorado law license in 2027, the court’s order says she must first “prove by clear and convincing evidence that she has been rehabilitated, has complied with all disciplinary orders and rules, and is fit to practice law.”

On Memorial Day, former President Donald Trump announced the  “Veterans and Military Families for Trump”, a Coalition with over 175 endorsements from decorated Veterans, Gold Star families, and heroes who love our country.

            Read Trump’s statement below:

“Veterans and Military Families for Trump” are unified around their support for President Trump as a leader fighting to ensure that the sacrifices of our Veterans and their families are honored, not forgotten. Unlike the weak Joe Biden, President Trump has consistently proven he cares deeply about the unbelievable sacrifices made by our nation’s Veterans and their wonderful families. While Joe Biden looks at his watch during the dignified transfer of our fallen heroes, President Trump salutes the ongoing service and ultimate sacrifice this community makes every day to protect our communities.

This Coalition is an incredible opportunity for our great heroes and their families to help Donald J. Trump finish the job he began during his first term as our nation’s Commander-in-Chief, securing the blessings of freedom for those who selflessly risked their lives to defend it.

To every Veteran, “you are America’s greatest living heroes, and we will cherish you now, always, and forever.”

            –President Donald J. Trump

Robert De Niro Addresses Crowd Near Trump Courtroom

              2

Popular actor Robert De Niro attacked Donald Trump during a press conference for the Biden-Harris campaign as closing arguments in the hush money trial are underway nearby.

De Niro, a vocal Trump critic, accused the former President of “sowing chaos.”

“I love this city. I love this city. I don’t want to destroy it. Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city, but the country. And eventually he could destroy the world,” De Niro said.

As he spoke, he was shouted down by protestors.

“I mean, this is really…even these people over here have you know…it’s kind of crazy. It’s really crazy. And this this thing, Donald Trump has created this. He should be telling them not to do this,” De Niro said.

“He want he wants to sow total chaos, which he’s succeeding in some areas and places to do, he said.

De Niro was flanked by two police officers Michael Fanone and Harry Dunn, who defended the Capitol against January 6 rioters in 2021.

CNN Reporter Stunned By Turnout At Trump’s Rally In The Bronx

                9

Democrats don’t like the look of this…

CNN reporter Kristen Holmes was on the ground at former President Donald Trump’s rally in the Bronx on Thursday and couldn’t help but say she was stunned by the turnout in the deep blue community.

During the rally, Trump was joined on stage at one point by rappers “Sheff G” and “Sleepy Hallow,” who both endorsed him, and some Bronx residents expressed their surprise that a presidential candidate would hold a rally in their neighborhood.

While describing the rally to CNN host Anderson Cooper, Holmes said Trump had attracted “a bigger crowd than I think Democrats would like to see, particularly given this is one of the bluest counties in the entire country.”

Holmes added that Trump’s event in the Bronx didn’t just pull in people from miles away who travel to the former president’s campaign rallies.

“One of the things that was interesting to me is that the Trump campaign said that they were going to micro-target to get people from the community to come to this rally. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I’ve gone to a lot of these rallies across the country, and there are often people who travel hundreds of miles to see Donald Trump and they’re not necessarily part of the community. However, one of the things that I found was that there were a lot of people here that were actually from the Bronx,” Holmes reported.

Biden Campaign Discreetly Meets With Top Haley Supporters After Trump Endorsement

                  4

On Wednesday night, just hours after the former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations declared her support for Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

The Daily Beast has the latest on the underreported pilgrimage and what it means for both sides:

In the previously unreported meeting, a Biden campaign representative listened to the concerns of top Haley supporters from various states as part of Bidenworld’s ongoing outreach to win over Haley voters.

“The fact they actually sent someone last night to speak to a small group … I think that’s a good signal that they’re aware there are huge numbers of Haley voters out there,” Robert Schwartz, founder of the Haley Voters For Biden PAC, told The Daily Beast. Schwartz said the meeting was highly encouraging, and likened it to other listening sessions the Biden campaign has done with the pro-Palestinian uncommitted vote.

The Biden campaign did not immediately return a request for comment on the meeting.

Ever since the GOP primary wrapped up, the Biden team has identified Haley voters as a key persuasion target with a unique set of key issues, particularly around Trump’s attacks on democracy and the general notion of restoring decency to the office. The Biden campaign has continued trying to refine their definition of a persuadable Haley voter over the past few months, focusing on paid media, Haley’s margins in key battleground precincts from the primary, and simply listening to their concerns.

Haley’s shift towards Trump comes after her strong opposition to him during her own presidential bid.

When Haley suspended her presidential campaign over two months ago, she did not endorse Trump. The decision to withhold support appeared to be a strategic move to establish her as a principled opponent within the party, hoping to attract the 20% of Republicans who backed her and others dissatisfied with Trump. Notably, Haley stated in yesterday’s remarks that although she intends to vote for Trump, he must do more to court her supporters. (RELATED: Trump Denies Considering Nikki Haley For Vice President)

Wednesday’s announcement sparked considerable speculation. Some observers hypothesized that she hopes to secure a significant role in a future Trump administration. Another possibility is that Haley is laying the groundwork for a future White House bid. Refusing to support Trump would alienate the vast majority of the GOP base, making it difficult for her to gain traction in a future primary campaign – especially if he loses.

Despite Trump securing the necessary delegates to be the Republican nominee, many Never Trump voters have continued casting their ballots for Haley. (RELATED: Haley’s Pennsylvania Primary Showing Could Spell Trouble For Trump)

Polls indicate that while some Never Trump voters remain resolute in their opposition, many are willing to support Trump in November, driven by more pragmatic considerations, such as the economy or judicial nominees.

The extent to which they rally behind the former president could make all the difference in the election’s outcome. Voter apathy remains a concern for both sides in closely contested states.

Trump Reveals Latest Change In Biden Debate Plan

Former President Donald Trump just revealed the Biden camp has made yet another adjustment to the scheduled televised debates after already making a number of changes.

Among Biden’s initial non-negotiable proposed standards were no live audience, a select variety of networks to host, and only two candidates on stage.

Now there appear to be more. Trump told John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby on 77 WABC AM that the Biden campaign is requesting that the candidates sit at a table for the entirety of the debate.

“I hear now we’re sitting at tables. I don’t want to sit at a table,” Trump said.

“I said, ‘No, let’s stand.’ But they want to sit at a table,” Trump continued. “So we’ll be sitting at a table as opposed to doing it the way you should be, in my opinion, in a debate.”

“But I agree to their requests because I want to debate him,” Trump told Catsimatidis and Cosby.

“I want him to tell us why he did that in Afghanistan, why it was the worst, most embarrassing day in history where we gave back — think of it — we gave them 85 billion dollars worth of equipment. 13 people killed, 45 people just so badly hurt —of our people — and hundreds of people killed overall. And we left hostages behind. I call them hostages. We left a lot of Americans behind,” the former president continued.

In addition to no live audience, Biden’s campaign proposed that the debates only be held by networks that hosted the 2016 Republican primary debates and the 2020 Democratic primary debates in 2020, The NYT reported. Those networks include CNN, ABC News, Telemundo and CBS News.

Biden and Trump have both accepted two debates: one on June 27 broadcasted on CNN and the other Sept. 10 on ABC News. Trump has accepted a proposal for a vice presidential debate on Fox News, though the Biden campaign has not. Instead, the Biden campaign opted to accept CBS News’ vice presidential debate proposal.

Nikki Haley Announces Plans To Vote For Trump

                    1

Despite initially stating that Donald Trump must decide if he wants to win her support, along with the primary voters who backed her campaign, Nikki Haley has announced who she’ll be supporting in the 2024 presidential election.

It’s none other than Donald Trump.

The former South Carolina governor and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations announced her support for Trump’s 2024 bid on Wednesday afternoon during an appearance at the Hudson Institute in Washington, D.C.

                    As The Hill reports:

“As a voter, I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account, who would secure the border, no more excuses. A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt not more debt,” Haley said at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank.

“Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear, many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump,” Haley said.

Haley joined the Hudson Institute as its Walter P. Stern chair in April. Her remarks at the institute come as she continues to be a significant presence in Republican presidential primary results, despite having suspended her campaign in March.

“Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just going to be with him.”
