The 2024 Republican field is about to see another challenger and he’s already getting key Senate endorsements.

South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds (R) has committed to supporting Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) in 2024.

Rounds told The Washington Examiner on Wednesday that he has committed to backing Scott. The South Carolina Senator is expected to formally announce his campaign for president Monday in Charleston, S.C.

“I do,” Rounds said when asked whether he plans to endorse Scott. “I’ve already told him I would.”

“I think he is the closest to Ronald Reagan that you’re going to see,” he said.

Rounds praised Scott as a candidate who would “bring our country together” and “cares deeply about making the right decisions.”

“I believe he will build a good team. He’s got a business background. He’s got a great personal story and he understands and he truly cares about people,” he told The Examiner.

Sen. Rounds’ endorsement of Scott marks the first Republican Senator to back a candidate other than Donald Trump.

Trump has the support of 11 Senate Republicans, including Sens. Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Mike Braun (Ind.), Ted Budd (N.C.), Steve Daines (Mont.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Bill Hagerty (Tenn.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (Miss.), Markwayne Mullin (Okla.), Eric Schmitt (Mo.), Tommy Tuberville (Ala.) and JD Vance (Ohio).

Sen. Scott filed official paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) on Friday.

Trump’s Song With J6 Prison Choir Reaches No. 1 On iTunes

      9

Donald Trump…real estate mogul, businessman, family man, politician, and now the No.1 recording artist. What can’t the man accomplish?

Over the weekend, Former President Donald Trump’s new debut single with the J6 Prison Choir, “Justice for All” soared to the number one spot on the iTunes charts.

“J6 Prison Choir consists of individuals who have been incarcerated as a result of their involvement in the January 6, 2021 protest for election integrity after President Donald J. Trump stated ‘I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard,’” the J6 Prison Choir website states. “The J6PC continues to make their voices heard through the power of music and sings ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ every evening before bed.”

The song was released on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Proceeds from the song go to “certain J6 families in need,” a press release from Kash Patel, a former Trump security official who played a role in recording the song, said. (RELATED: Former Trump Adviser, Kash Patel Joins Matt Whitaker’s Podcast)

“We basically broke the music industry is what we did here, because we put America First values back front and center,” Patel told Breitbart News. “And we said we’re going to use free speech platforms like Truth Social and Rumble, and then we’re going to debut a song that speaks to what’s on so many Americans’ minds.”

The J6 Prison Choir reportedly asked former President Trump to take part in the project. A campaign adviser told CNN the song “doesn’t have anything to do” with Trump’s presidential campaign.

The song released in March is a tribute to the prisoners of the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. It includes roughly 20 prisoners singing the national anthem and a recitation of the pledge of allegiance by former President Trump. The ending of the song includes the prisoners chanting, “USA!”

White House Press Secretary Rushes To Biden’s Defense After Doocey Asks New Provocative Question

“President Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history. Why does the White House staff treat him like a baby?”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre became visibly agitated after receiving that question from Fox News Correspondent Peter Doocy.

Doocy asked the provocative question in response to revelations in a new book, claiming White House staff treat the 80-year-old president “like a toddler.”

Fox News has more, including Jean-Pierre’s reaction:

“No one treats the president of the United States, the commander in chief, like a baby. That’s ridiculous. It’s a ridiculous claim,” Jean-Pierre responded.

Doocy cited an upcoming book by The Atlantic’s Franklin Foer, “The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Struggle for America’s Future,” in which the author writes that Biden, after appearing to call for regime change in Russia in March 2022, “fumed to friends about how he was treated like a toddler.”

“Was John Kennedy ever babied like that?” Biden asked, according to the book.

Jean-Pierre dismissed the excerpt, arguing that books inevitably get written about every administration with “a variety of claims.”

When Jean-Pierre attempted to pivot to Biden’s trip to the upcoming G20 summit in India, Doocy brought up a Wall Street Journal Poll showing two-thirds of Democrats believe Biden is too old to run for president.

“Look, here’s what I know. Here’s what I can speak to. I can speak to that – a president who has wisdom. I can speak to a president who has experience. I can speak to a president who has done historic – has taken historic action and has delivered in historic pieces of legislation. And that’s important,” an increasingly impatient Jean-Pierre retorted.

These 5 Republicans are Refusing to Back McCarthy for Speaker

          13

Current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is facing unexpected pushback as he seeks to become House Speaker when Republicans officially re-take control of Congress in January.

So far, five Republican lawmakers have publicly announced they do not plan to support McCarthy’s campaign to become Speaker and he will need every vote he can get with Republicans holding a smaller-than-expected majority.

The GOP is expected to wind up with a 222-seat majority in January, compared to an estimated 213 seats for Democrats. If all 435 members of the House are present and voting for speaker in January, McCarthy can lose no more than four Republican votes.

These are the 5 Republicans jeopardizing McCarthy’s rise to the Speaker’s podium:

          Rep. Matt Gaetz

“House Republicans need a leader with credibility across every spectrum of the GOP conference in order to be a capable fighting force for the American people,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL). “That person is not Kevin McCarthy.”

          Rep. Andy Biggs

Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs initially cast doubt on McCarthy’s bid for Speaker after Republicans saw lackluster midterm results. The House Freedom Caucus chairman is now directly challenging McCarthy to become Speaker himself.

“I think we need to have a real discussion about whether he should be the speaker or not,” Biggs told reporters the Thursday after Election Day.

“I think that his statement recently that we shouldn’t impeach Secretary Mayorkas indicates that maybe we’re not going to be as aggressive going forward as we should be. I think we need to have a very positive statement of what we’re going to accomplish and do, and I haven’t seen that yet,” he added. “That’s — those are things that I think we should have a very frank discussion internally about, where we’re going to be going forward.”

          Rep. Matt Rosendale

Montana Rep. Matt Rosendale has also expressed his doubts over McCarthy’s potential Speakership but hasn’t ruled out voting for him or for Rep. Biggs.

“Each member of Congress has earned and deserves equal participation in the legislative process,” said Rosendale.

South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman has also made it clear he won’t be casting his vote for McCarthy regardless of any concession the California lawmaker plans to make.

“I’m not going to support Kevin McCarthy,” Norman told Just the News. “Washington is broken. There’s a cancer in this country, and it can’t be fixed with aspirin. It’s called overspending. When you’re bankrupt, you can’t function as a country.”

          Rep. Bob Good

Virginia Rep. Bob Good also signaled he will take a hard stance against McCarthy this January.

“I believe we have at least a dozen or so that are strong, courageous, that will do what needs to be done on the House floor to ensure that we get an improvement in the speaker situation,” Rep. Good said to the “John Fredericks Show.”

Most Americans Think Chris Christie Wrong on Transgender Kids

ANALYSIS – One of the most transcendent political issues today is the Left’s war on reality. Specifically, the radical efforts to push a totally made-up, anti-science, transgender ideology on society, and especially our children.

And most Republicans agree. Actually, most Americans agree.

Being on the wrong side of this issue should automatically disqualify a GOP candidate for president. And former New Jersey governor Chris Christie is wrong on this issue – big time.

During a segment on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, Christie argued against state bans on sex change treatments for children, reported Fox News.

When asked about Republican governors banning life-altering, genital mutilating gender reassignment surgeries and experimental ‘puberty blockers’ drugs and hormones for minors in their states, he replied:

I don’t think that the government should ever be stepping in to the place of the parents in helping to move their children through a process where those children are confused or concerned about their gender.

To be fair, Christie also said: “What I would like to make sure each state does is require that parents are involved in these decisions.” And that is critical. But it isn’t enough.

Sadly, it’s Christie who is confused.

If this was 1980, and a Republican candidate said the government shouldn’t get between parents and their children, I would wholeheartedly agree.

But in 1980 no one would have imagined a society, medical establishment, public school system and government pushing radical transgenderism on our kids, and their parents.

The world is now officially upside down. And even parents are being pressured to permanently damage their kids. The only chance we have to preserve basic human values is by Republican red states defending them wholeheartedly.

And when possible, defending them at the federal level.

Former President Donald Trump has been vocal about his stance: “These people are sick, they’re deraigned,” Trump recently said in North Carolina, speaking of those who support men competing in women’s sports.

The former president also said he would “sign a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 states” if elected in 2024.

Unfortunately for Christie, and fortunately for the rest of us, Fox News reports that a strong majority of Americans disagree with him.

A Washington Post-KFF poll “found that 68% of Americans oppose access to puberty-blocking medication for kids ages 10 to 14 and 58% oppose access to hormonal treatments for kids ages 15 to 17.”

But Christie isn’t just wrong on this extreme issue. He has been wrong on transgender issues for many years.

          As Fox News reported:

While serving as governor of New Jersey in 2017, Christie passed laws allowing children to use school bathrooms and locker rooms based on their gender identity rather than sex assigned at birth.

Christie’s signature also removed restrictions on biological men competing in women’s sports, an issue that the WaPo poll found over 60% of Americans think should be banned.

Christie also signed another law that year prohibiting insurance companies from denying services to anyone based on their ‘gender identity.’

In the increasingly crowded field of GOP presidential hopefuls, former President Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former Ambassador Nikki Haley, are all on the right side. They all support restricting children under 18 years of age from receiving gender reassignment (or genital mutilation) procedures.

All three also support banning biological men from competing in women’s sports. And they are all correct.

But, as far as I’m concerned Christie just disqualified himself from being a GOP candidate for president.

Report: Mitch McConnell Released from Hospital

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was released from the hospital Monday afternoon and is recovering from a concussion.

Communications Director David Popp said in a statement that McConnell’s medical team discovered he suffered a “minor rib fracture” after his fall at a D.C. hotel last week, for which he’s also receiving treatment. But the Kentucky Republican’s concussion recovery was “proceeding well.”

            Per POLITICO:

“At the advice of his physician, the next step will be a period of physical therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation facility before he returns home,” Popp said.

The statement did not disclose when McConnell will return to the Senate.

McConnell was taken to the hospital last week after falling at a dinner for the Senate Leadership Fund, a Super PAC he is closely aligned. (RELATED: Mitch McConnell’s Office Provides Update Following Hospitalization)

“Leader McConnell tripped at a dinner event Wednesday evening and has been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment,” his office announced last Thursday.

Report: New York Post Barred From Biden Event Ahead Of Possible Hunter Charges

The Biden administration appears to be distancing itself from any right-wing outlets as the walls are closing in on Hunter Biden.

The New York Post was reportedly denied press credentials for a White House event that took place on Monday, mere days ahead of a possible indictment for Hunter.

The event, which took place in the White House-adjacent Eisenhower Executive Office Building, reportedly addressed federal airline policies and also included remarks from Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

“We are unable to accommodate your credential request to attend the Investing in Airline Accountability Remarks on 5/8. The remarks will be live-streamed and can be viewed at WH.gov. Thank you for understanding. We will let you know if a credential becomes available,” the email read.

According to the Post’s report, of some 50 seats that had been reserved for reporters, nearly half remained empty throughout the president’s remarks. However, the outlet also noted that the email declining their request for credentials did not state that limited space was the reason for the rejection.

The decision to reject press credentials for The Post, which first published articles regarding Hunter’s laptop, comes two weeks after a meeting between Justice Department (DOJ) officials and Hunter’s legal team. The meeting triggered speculation that the DOJ is nearing its decision over whether to indict the President’s son. (RELATED: Is Hunter Biden Hiding In The White House To Avoid Arrest?)

Over the weekend, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) urged the DOJ to withhold charging Hunter until after a mid-week press conference.

“My message to the Department of Justice is very loud and clear: Do not indict Hunter Biden before Wednesday,” he told “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo over the weekend.

Hunter Biden may face prosecution over federal tax charges as well as questions over the alleged illegal disposal of a handgun in Delaware.

Liberal Comedian Admits He’s ‘Afraid’ of Trump

                0

It’s no secret that comedian Bill Maher has a sour view of former President Trump, the two have engaged in back-and-forth spats online for years often with no kind word between them.

However, the liberal comedian recently admitted to CNN’s Jake Tapper that he is scared of Trump “on a very personal level,” especially what the first president might do to him if he’s re-elected.

“I am afraid of Trump on a very personal level because I don’t think he likes me. I understand why,” the HBO “Real Time” host told  Tapper on Tuesday as part of a CNN primetime special. “And I don’t know what he would do in a second term.”

Maher, 67, told Tapper that after Trump won the 2016 presidential election, “I was afraid for my own wellbeing. I thought I could wind up in Guantanamo Bay. I think I still could.”

“He’s obsessed sometimes. I don’t know. He went on a tear for about eight months when he was president every time, he’d have a rally. I have a list three pages long of the things he’s called me,” he said of the 45th president.

“I mean, he is obviously someone who does not know any boundaries, and, you know, you have to worry when you see what other authoritarian rulers do in other countries to people,” Maher told Tapper of Trump.

“I’m not thinking he’s going to become [Russian President Vladimir Putin] and start pushing people out windows,” Maher said, “but I’m not going to live on the 30th floor anywhere either.”

Trump has slammed Maher as a “radical left maniac.”

Earlier this month, Trump attacked CNN for adding Maher’s “Overtime” post-show segment to its Friday night programming. The cable network, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post, “wants to give wacky liddle’ Bill Maher a shot at bringing them back to just normal ‘bad’ when Bill Maher suffers from the same affliction as CNN — BAD RATINGS!”

Donald Trump Charged in Georgia 2020 Election Probe

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) has officially charged former President Donald Trump in the office’s yearslong investigation into his alleged efforts to overturn Georgia’s election results.

On Monday night a grand jury voted to charge Trump on 13 charges ranging from making false statements and impersonating a public officer to conspiracy and racketeering — a charge generally reserved for organized crime. Eighteen Trump lawyers, advisers, and confidantes are charged alongside the leading GOP 2024 hopeful, including his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. Each of them faces the racketeering charge, linking the multitude of alleged crimes together.

The 98-page document dropped shortly before 11 p.m. on Monday.

The shared charge alleges the defendants participated in a “criminal enterprise in Fulton County, Georgia — and elsewhere — to accomplish the illegal goal” of keeping Trump in office, Willis (D) said Monday.

See the Trump allies charged in the Georgia Probe:

                  • Mark Meadows
                  • John Eastman
                  • Kenneth Cheseboro
                  • Jenna Ellis
                  • Rudy Giuliani
                  • Ray Smith
                  • Jeffrey Clark
                  • Robert Cheely
                  • Michael Roman
                  • Stephen Lee

                  • Misty Hampton
                  • Scott Hall

The investigation largely focused on a phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger during which the former president pressured the official to “find” enough votes to overturn the results.

However, over the weekend an exclusive report from CNN revealed Georgia prosecutors also obtained documents connecting Trump’s team to a voting system breach in Coffee County in January 2021.

                  CNN reports:

Together, the text messages and other court documents show how Trump lawyers and a group of hired operatives sought to access Coffee County’s voting systems in the days before January 6, 2021, as the former president’s allies continued a desperate hunt for any evidence of widespread fraud they could use to delay certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

Last year, a former Trump official testified under oath to the House January 6 select committee that plans to access voting systems in Georgia were discussed in meetings at the White House, including during an Oval Office meeting on December 18, 2020,  that included Trump.

Six days before pro-Trump operatives gained unauthorized access to voting systems, the local elections official who allegedly helped facilitate the breach sent a “written invitation” to attorneys working for Trump, according to text messages obtained by CNN.
